About the Instructor

Hello, and welcome to my site!

My name is Bryan Hollister, and I have been involved in martial arts to varying degrees for many years. My initial exposure to martial arts came when, as a young boy in the early 80's, I took a few introductory Taekwon-Do classes from Master John "Duke" Colgate in Mt. Juliet , TN. Since that time I have been exposed to, and studied to some extent, a number of different martial arts styles, from Kenpo in my college days to numerous styles and techniques during my 20 years in the military, from which I retired in 2008. In 2006 I decided to get serious about learning a specific martial art and began dedicated study of Taekwon-Do under Master Frank Primm. I have had the pleasure and the honor to progress to 2nd Dan since beginning my training, am currently preparing for evaluation and promotion to 3rd Dan, nd expect to continue for many years to come.

I am also a fitness enthusiast, competing in my first bodybuilding/physique competition in May 2014. I am committed to not only keeping my own body and mind fit and healthy, but also to bringing that entusiasm to my students and their families. As a result, many of my classes will include a fitness component designed and meant to improve the overall fitness level of my students.

The type of Taekwon-Do I teach is traditional Taekwon-Do. It is not watered down and commercialized, but instead is taught as the creator of modern Taekwon-Do, General Choi, Hong Hi intended: there is as much focus on "the way" of Taekwon-Do as there is on the physical elements of kicking and punching. The five tenets - Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self Control, and Indomitable Spirit - are an integral part of each class.

I am excited about the opportunity to teach you and/or your child in what I think is one of the best martial arts in the world; I look forward to hearing from you!
